May I?

Having a toddler means we are constantly working on manners and being polite.  Tonight while eating dinner Jason started peeling an orange (Lindsey's weakness).  She starts off just putting her hand out and assuming Jason will hand one right over.

Lindsey: (With hand out) Daddy, orange.

Jason: Lindsey, how do you ask for an orange nicely?

Lindsey: Please?

Jason: What is another way to ask? 

Lindsey: Put it in my belly!

Jason: No (laughing), that is not how to ask. 

After a few more times back and forth, Lindsey finally asked Jason if she "may have an orange, please" which is what he was looking for the first time.
